Our motto has always been 'do one thing really well ' - this means that our Permit to work system is really good at managing permits. However our client, a leader in the waste-to-energy space wanted to integrate the information from their Maximo Asset Management suite with our Permit to Work system, to allow both systems to provide a greater depth of useful data about jobs in progress.
The brief was to allow the permit system to receive data on relevant work orders whenever a permit was raised in a specific area. Areas often had multiple work orders in force and it was important that permit users were able to have broad visibility of all activity.
On the Maximo side, when work orders were entered for a specific area the users needed to be able to see the permits in force.
The Pisys Permit to Work system has a comprehensive API allowing leverage of all permit data within external systems, however in this instance and with the client's cooperation, we were able to use the Maximo API to obtain the required data. We were also able to populate the Maximo Work order screen with the URL of the specific permit which relates to the work order area.
The Company HSE manager emphasized the transformative nature of being able to raise permits directly from Maximo work orders.
